Singapore’s development giant sets sights on New Clark City

Capas, Tarlac—Committed to developing Clark in time for the Philippines’ hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), with its partner AlloyMTD Philippines Inc., started the concrete pouring of the world-class New Clark City sports facilities today, April 25, 2018.

The event was led by Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Secretary General and Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Director General Patrick Gregorio, AlloyMTD President Patrick Nicholas David and BCDA Vice President for Business Development and PHISGOC Deputy Director General for the Athletes’ Village Arrey Perez.

“The first concrete pouring of the sports facilities marks the start of our journey to the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. AlloyMTD and BCDA are committed to finish the sports facilities on time. In fact, we are ahead of schedule,” AlloyMTD Philippines President Patrick Nicholas David said. “This is a huge fulfillment as we pursue the swift development of the New Clark City national government center that will house modern training facilities and an athletes’ village,” he added.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Deputy Chief of Operations and PHISGOC Games Services Director Engr. Ed Clariza and Asian Swimming Federation Technical Delegate Lani Velasco graced the event.

The world-class sports facilities is part of the 60-hectare Phase 1A project of the National Government Administrative Center which broke ground in New Clark City earlier this year and which is being developed in partnership with AlloyMTD Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of MTD Capital Berhad of Malaysia.

The sports facilities will have an athletics stadium, a track and field oval, and an aquatics center. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 20,000 while the aquatics center can accommodate 2,000 people. The said facilities will be built according to the standards of world governing bodies in athletics such as the International Amateur and Athletics Federation (IAAF) and the Federacion International de Natation (FINA).

The 200-hectare National Government Administrative Center is envisioned to house satellite offices of various government agencies. Sixty (60) hectares shall comprise the project’s first phase, with 40 hectares allotted for Phase1A and another 20 hectares for Phase1B. Forty (40) hectares will be developed for government housing, parks, and support service facilities.

MTD Capital Berhad of Malaysia won the bid to help BCDA develop the National Government Administrative Center which is envisioned to house satellite offices of various government agencies. The future development will include an Integrated Operations Center and Disaster Risk and Recovery Center, which shall serve as back-up or redundancy facilities to provide continuous business operations and services for the people, likened to Malaysia’s well-planned government city, Putrajaya.
